But in a good way. The remote control, though a little cumbersome at first, has really found its niche in my grubby hands. Allow me to illuminate some of its finer features. Besides being sturdy, and having a non-slip backside, the button are easily accessible for the most commonly used functions. Quickly becoming two of my favorites are the six-second rewind, and the thirty-second advance. Simply put, if you find yourself fast-forwarding into the show you’re watching, a quick tap-or-two on the six-second rewind button will, in the blink of an eye, (it takes about a half-second to go the full six-seconds) get you back in place for some serious TV viewing. The thirty-second button does much of the same going the other direction. More great features, however…
I’ve discovered a small bug. The audio drops out completely now and again (perhaps once every other day) for a few seconds. Hrmmmmm. And sometimes the audio “bugs out” (becomes crackled and fuzzy) while watching recorded programs from my list. Happens once a day. Interesting part (and most DVR professionals know this), I can hit the six-second rewind button and the sound instantly clears up. (Telling me is wasn’t recorded that way, just poor play back.) I currently have the box hooked up through an HDMI cable, but perhaps I may go with the optical to see if that corrects the problem. More to come but still impressed.
