I was looking forward to Conference Championship weekend. Typically the best of the best play the divisional games and this year looked to be no different. Man, was I disappointed. Not in who won, no the victors deserved the spoils. No, I speak of the action contained within those games.
Both the Steelers and Seahawks established their game plans quickly and with seemingly unending effort. I personally thought the Broncos would make a game of it but they were no where to be seen. The week point of the Bronco gameplan, Jake Plummer, filled his proverbial calling and threw two interceptions and fumbled another ball away. Two of the three turnovers resulted in points for the Steelers who looked confident, accomplished and on a mission.
The Seahawks gameplan was a little different. On defense, they took away the ONLY considerable threat the Panthers could muster: Steve Smith. The Seahawks slowly and carefully choked the life from the Panthers, seemingly scoring at will and finally nailing the coffin closed with a gameplan that attacked the Panthers in many different ways. I actually thought the Panthers would win this game but the Seahawks prevailed and will head to Detroit.
Who is going to win the Superbowl? Though the Seahawks look solid, the Steelers seem more savvy, more plugged in, and more … experienced. Steelers win in a close game.
