What sort of crap is this!? I understand the need to scoop the story and maintain the lead but at what cost!? They are reporting he is dead but also reporting the family has not been notified. As a form of excuse, ESPN reports the name was released at the scene “by mistake” but this makes no difference. Take the high road, allow the family to endure this situation via official notification — or at least through friends/family — and not expose them to the horrible reality of ESPN national notification. Even if other networks report the name, don’t follow them to the bottom of the barrel. Do the right thing and spare the family this sort of public news.
Poor move. Bad play.
